Author of a series of Rephlex records whose imagination and brilliance provoked rumors they were the work of Aphex Twin himself, Astrobotnia was nevertheless claimed by the label to be the work of "a new Rephlex signing," one Kristian Richards. Released during 2001-02, the three releases (respectively, a mini-LP, an EP, and a full LP) worked in similar territory to braindance compatriots like Bogdan Raczynski or Ovuca; in fact, the latter was previously fans' best guess at the man behind the curtain. ~ John Bush
