FRUTA PROHIBITO or "Forbidden Fruit", a new queer Latinx party inspired by Puerto Rico and its community, makes its debut residency Sunday night of Earthly Delights' grand opening weekender. Monday is a holiday so let's get loco!
ROSAMALIA
A San Juan-based DJ and musician, founder of Dance to Forget and Dungeon Jams Records.
Rosamalia's musical roots extend beyond the realm of dance, having cut her teeth in the local jazz, indie rock, and punk scenes of Puerto Rico as a performer.
She majored in piano jazz at the Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico while immersing herself in the Santurce after-hours DJ scene and the DIY indie rock scene. In 2016, she launched the first DJ night, Dance to Forget, at the historically punk venue Club 77, a venue which has since fully embraced electronic dance music events. All the while, she was collaborating with and recording local bands and founded Dungeon Jams Records, transforming her parents’ basement into a “jamming” hub and later into a platform for producing sound design and original compositions for audiovisual projects and games. Nowadays she frequently collaborates with El Cuadrado Gris in Barrio Obrero Santurce, an artist gallery and DJ-forward venue and radio platform for alternative and emerging artists.
As a DJ, her selections feature a percussive and bass-forward blend of techno, house, minimal, rave, breaks, and dancepop, striking a balance between smooth, sexy, sleazy late-night attitude and playful eclectic sounds.
