Jaywalking is back from the abyss, inviting 4 stellar selectors to steer us through the night.
ben bondy is an alchemist of genres in his own right. Raised by classical and hardcore, he blends elements of pop, rock, country, techno and much more into his IDM & ambient productions. His sound carries a certain warm, hazy je ne sais quois, leaving imprints on labels such as Motion Ward, West Mineral Ltd., Quiet Time Tapes, 3XL and many more self released projects. He is also 1/3 of Crimeboys along with fellow lineup artist Special Guest DJ. His mixes like his productions spans an impressive breadth, we look forward to experience how he will interpret the Jaywalking sound.
Maya26Maya26 & Intimacy Simulator are co-founders of Jungle Network, beyond organising parties, they are a collective that releases zines, cassettes, and CDs. They have tabled at the Pioneer Works Press Play fair, NYABF and vended at many local parties. Although the word ‘zine’ captures their project’s material form, as the intro of Issue 1 suggests, the depth of its contents are akin to a book. Their zines capture a sincerity and rawness: cut & pasted and xeroxed, while they examine jungle music in the context of personal narratives, class-struggle and resistance punctuated by lunar calendar pages, sudoku, poetry, and archived paraphernalia. Their collaborators across zines, cassettes and CDs include Tim Reaper, Lil Zé, XXHARDBIT3S, Dazegxd and many more. I personally consider their zines seminal reading for all contemporary junglists, and appreciate all the effort they put into archiving jungle culture. Very happy to share that they will be vending at this event. We are lucky to have this pair at the helm of our late night sonic journey.
Special Geust DJ is a master jester and homie extraordinaire. He is a man of many faces, it is hard to encapsulate the repertoire (and aliases) under his belt… From ambient to dubstep, from shoegaze to jungle, he’s got you covered. As the label boss of 3XL, his past ventures also include bblisss, Experiences Ltd., and xpq?. The discographies of these labels draw a vast expanse across sounds, but they all seem to evoke a misty, glitchy, dub-laden landscape. We can’t be too certain what he’ll pack for the night but we know for sure it’ll be heat.
