MAR À MESA: CHAPTER I Welcome to Mar à Mesa, an ocean-to-table feast celebrating the wild Atlantic, the food it gives us and the fishing community that has shaped this coastline for generations. Children are very welcome. This is a family-friendly celebration of the coast and the community around it. Fresh oysters. Portuguese wine. Fire, fish and the Atlantic at your feet. The rhythm of the sea sets the rhythm of the evening. As the fishermen return and the catch comes in, it makes its way from sea to fire to table. Prepared over open flames, it becomes the centre of a shared feast, served around one long table facing the Atlantic as the sun goes down. Mar à Mesa brings together fishermen, cooks, winemakers and our local community to celebrate the people, produce and traditions of this stretch of Portuguese coast, and to help keep their stories and traditions alive.
