From Kampala, the multimedia artist Authentically Plastic combines traditional East African rhythms like that of kadodi with the blown out sound design of industrial techno and. They founded the Ugandan queer collective ANTI-MASS, a safe home for queer people and artistic experimentation in an environment where LGBTQ+ life is criminalized. They've released their sonic weapons on their own ANTI-MASS label as well as the Nyege Nyege club label, Hakuna Kulala, where their second album will be released in September. We're bringing in a special guest from Amsterdam for their first NYC appearance. Awhlkuhn is a prolific producer, vocalist, and DJ defining a new genre they call Kamra, which mixes the percussion of Caribbean rhythms like Kamina and Soca with the electronic textures of Midwestern House & Techno, in an effort to synthesize the diverse sonic textures of their diasporic upbringing. Matük plays a unique repertoire informed by their live hardware workouts and their experience playing traditional Afro-Colombian music, crafting rhythmically-intricate proggy jams that pull as much from cumbia as from glitchy sample-based electronica or 70s Moog krautrock. They're going b2b with fuge, resident curator of Fiber, who plays experimental electronic music from across the Panamerican underground.
