Nave Mãe
Nave Mãe is the alias of Frederico Mendes, a Portuguese Label Manager and Art Director from Porto who currently resides in Philadelphia. Heavily influenced by the early Jungle and Garage movement emanating from London, Frederico became a collector of world club scenes.
The imprint he currently manages is 1980Lyfers, an independent record label that has operations in Porto, South London, and Washington D.C. 1980Lyfers has appeared in magazines like Wire and had the honor of being the first Portuguese label featured on Boiler Room Debuts in 2015 with their single "Telling Me” by User_145.
Additionally, Frederico keeps himself busy as the radio host of his own monthly shows at Eaton Radio and Radio AlHara.
He also is the co-founder of an online platform called Them Local with Katarina Especial. They often promote artists, designers, and musicians from all over the world - providing support to help their ideas come to fruition.
By exploring new places and different cultures, Nave Mãe’s performances reflect the diverging music scenes he's picked up along the way.
