Wednesday, Jan 28th No.9 Live presents an intimate evening with Annie Taylor Sloan and the Queer Jazz Collective. Annie Taylor Sloan is a NYC-based jazz guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer whose playing balances technical mastery with raw emotional clarity. She's also the creative force behind the emerging indie project Slark Moan. A vital presence in New York’s jazz scene, she’s been spotlighted by American Songwriter, KCRW, Glide Magazine, and BIRP, and featured as Tiny Desk’s “Desk of the Day” recognition that mirrors the depth and nuance she brings to the stage. A seasoned session musician, Sloan has toured extensively with acclaimed artists, most recently as the pedal steel player in SG Goodman’s band. Her performances span NPR’s Tiny Desk, Bonnaroo, and the Newport Folk Festival, with shared stages alongside Tyler Childers and Jason Isbell. Whether delivering intricate guitar lines or expansive, expressive solos, her sound feels both precise and deeply felt. January 28th, Sloan is joined by the Queer Jazz Collective, a group dedicated to uplifting local queer jazz artists, creating welcoming spaces for queer musicians, and amplifying queer contributions to the jazz tradition. Together, they bring a night rooted in musicianship, community, and close listening, live jazz meant to be experienced up close, in a room built for connection. Free w/ RSVP | 21+
