Since leaving Iran, we’ve travelled far and away in search of safety, security and a place to call home. Iran is more than just a land, it is more than just the smells and fragrances of our roses, our saffron, our esfand and our monuments, it is a living and breathing organ that exists in every one of us, the very fabric of community and gathering, of family, friendship and fraternity is one that we adopt with each person, each persian, each azeri, each lori or isfahani, rashti and baluch, kurd and turk, ahwazi and assouri, zoroastrian, christian, jew, muslim, agnostic and atheist, there is a mosaic that makes up our shared experiences, and while it seems the job of everyone to critique and criticise, to heal wounds and mend rifts is often the work of the empaths in our community. The work is never done but giving in to depression and darkness gives joy to enemies of the light. We hope you have found some peace and sense of reality in what is a distrubing human experience if you happen to be from where we are from, and if you have found refuge in the west or the east, away from the repression and death, do not squander this life, this privilege that so many would give their lives for. Never forget, we dance to remember where we are from, not to forget who we are.
