Bio : Placebo Effect : Placebo Effect formed in the late 1980s, consisting of Axel Machens (vocals, synth), Christoph Kunze (vocals, synth), and Achim Windel (vocals, sampler). Axel and Christoph met in 1989, discovering a shared interest in synthesizers, which led to them experimenting with music. Achim soon joined, and the trio began recording on four-track tapes. In 1992, they released their debut album, *Galleries of Pain*, produced by Bruno Kramm of Das Ich at his Danse Macabre Studio. The album became a classic in the EBM genre. Two more releases followed: *Slashed Open* (1993) and *Manipulated Mind Control* (1994), though the latter faced production difficulties and internal tensions, leading the band to go dormant, apart from a few live shows in 1999 and 2004. In 2011, *Gargoyles & Galleries*, a remastered collection of their early work, was released. Placebo Effect returned to the stage at Wave-Gotik-Treffen in 2014 and re-released *Slashed Open* in a deluxe edition. Founding member Achim Windel passed away in 2016, leading Axel and Christoph to reconnect. In 2017, the group began working on a new album, *Shattered Souls*, released in October 2020—26 years after their previous album. They performed live throughout Europe in 2018 and 2019, including at festivals in Germany, Slovakia, and Spain. Faustan Bio : Faustan: A Synthpop Evolution Faustan is an electrifying new synthpop duo blending the musical heritages of Germany and the USA, now based in Miami. Featuring Harry V, formerly of Universal Latino-signed Formula Redux, and Hoffa, an underground electronic artist from Berlin (previously of Hoffa 66 and Flying 55), Faustan crafts a dynamic fusion of deep, driving beats, pulsing synthesizers, and evocative German lyrics. Their music draws on the pioneering electronic sounds of German legends like Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream, fused with the polished pop sensibilities of English synthpop icons like Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, and New Order. Faustan’s unique style mixes Berlin’s gritty underground electronic scene with the sleek, sun-drenched energy of Miami’s nightlife, creating a sound that is as dark and brooding as it is vibrant and danceable. With Harry V’s sharp production and Hoffa’s raw, experimental edge, Faustan captivates listeners with hypnotic soundscapes, infectious melodies, and bold lyricism. Their live performances are a sensory experience, featuring pulsating rhythms, vivid visual displays, and a stage presence that leaves audiences entranced. Faustan stands out as part of the new wave of synthpop, blending nostalgia for the 80s with a forward-looking vision. Fans of artists like Kraftwerk, AndOne, New Order, and modern acts such as CHVRCHES and Hurts will find Faustan to be an exciting and powerful addition to the electronic music scene, making them a must-listen for anyone seeking a fresh take on the genre.
