We welcome surprise guest DJ Tennis as well as Quito based DJs and producers Quixosis and Joaquin Cornejo with local Anandroid to Flash for another VERY special edition of Sunday Love. Quixosis and Joaquin Cornejo are close collaborators of Nicola Cruz and Quantic. Quixosis prides himself on being committed to experimentation that feeds off the Andean and Latin American traditional sounds. In an effort to create electronic music full of texture and emotion, Joaquin Cornejo uses acoustic instruments accompanied by old magnetic tape recorders and analog imusic toys that allow him to provide deep ambient works, latin folkloric, and tribal rave music. Joining them will be DC local Anandroid. Don’t miss this momentous edition of Sunday Love in the District.

Delicious Democracy (DC's Creative Advocacy Lab) and Dave Sampe (breathworker and mycologist) are collaborating on an interactive discussion and exploration of the power of mushrooms and fungi to heal our soil, nourish our stomachs, and transform our culture. This collaborative conversation will unpack culture consciousness, civic mutual aid, the power of entheogenic fungi, and how we can be partners with mushrooms to organize our community and build better systems.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
DJ Tennis:
Life and Death boss, DJ Tennis is quite the renaissance man. With humble beginnings as a booking agent, forming Italy’s first agency DAZE along with organizing some of the most important parties in his native country, the well known producer now creates luminous odes to his past. He consistently draws influence from Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Tortoise and Fugazi, and more into vast electronic sceneries. Coming off fresh releases with “Atlanta” on the new Circoloco Records and a remix of WhoMadeWho’s “Mermaids,” the Italian native returns with his iconic sound to the District. Tennis will be joined by NYC club legend Justin Strauss. Strauss seamlessly mixes between choice classics, delectable rarities and innovative beats. He is hailed as a king remixer and producer working with the likes of Depeche Mode, Sergio Mendez, Tina Turner, Jimmy Cliff, B-52s, Luther Vandross, Malcolm McClaren, Skinny Puppy, and Goldfrapp among others. Don’t miss an opportunity to see two legends in one night with Justin Strauss in our Green Room and DJ Tennis headlining the Club Level.
Quixosis:
Quixosis is the mental condition of Don Quixote, and the electronic alias of Ecuadorian DJ/Producer Daniel Lofredo Rota, who has created an aural universe based on analog machines, magnetic delays, and boxes and boxes of master tapes from a lost record label from the 1960s. In a process tied to nostalgia and narratives that are buried by time, Quixosis Transmutes their sound in a mesmerizing and dynamic space that is pure psychedelia, wide wide ambiences punctuated by acid, energetic percussion.
As A DJ, Quixosis fuses electronic rhythms from the chill to the frenetic with latin american psychedelic music from various eras. From Downtempo to footwork, kuduro, electro, and afro disco, with no fear of dembow. It's an energy flow that seeks the sublime, through broken rhythms that integrate the root of latinamerican psychedelic. From 2020 He is a resident of the London based radio,
Worldwide.fm.
As an Archivist and investigator, he has worked on the restoration of a reissue of the CAIFE Records catalog, which was founded by his grandfather and then buried under tonnes of newspaper in his office, where Daniel found them 45 years later. The catalog represents the best recordings of Ecuadorian music from what was called “the golden age” of Ecuadorian National Music. The catalog includes artists like Benitez y Valencia, Los Tres Aces, And the Hermanas Mendoza Suasti, and will be reissued on Honest Jon’s Records in 2021.
