The Carry Nation, the New York-based DJ and production duo of Nita Aviance and Will Automagic, are deeply rooted in the city’s rich queer and underground nightlife history. Nita, a member of the legendary House of Aviance, began DJing around the turn of the millennium and held influential residencies at Mr. Black and Westgay. Will’s career is equally steeped in NYC club culture, with early connections to The Loft and David Mancuso, residencies at iconic venues including The Limelight, Life, and Vandam, and collaborations with fashion houses such as Issey Miyake, Vivienne Westwood, and Yves Saint Laurent. He later co-founded the acclaimed SPANK party, which grew from a basement gathering into a traveling warehouse event and connected him closely with the Horse Meat Disco collective.

Together, The Carry Nation are best known for their extended B2B sets and their acclaimed monthly queer party at Brooklyn’s Good Room. Their genre-spanning sets draw from the full history of New York dance music while maintaining a distinctly modern edge. Since launching the project, they have toured internationally, performing at venues and festivals including Glastonbury’s Block 9 and Berlin’s Berghain/Panorama Bar, while holding a residency at Ladyfag’s Battle Hymn. As producers and remixers, they have released music on labels including Classic Music Company, Nervous, TRAX, and Get Up Recordings. They also co-founded Major Records with Justin Cudmore, focusing on their Majorettes collaboration and a fresh yet classic house sound inspired by New York’s underground legacy.
