La Sape comes from Société des Ambianceurs et des Personnes Élégantes the “Society of Ambiance makers and Elegant People.” It’s a subculture from Congo (Brazzaville & Kinshasa) where men and increasingly women dress in bold, elegant, and flamboyant fashion, turning style into a true celebration.
