The series NACHTS by Photographer and Berghain Bouncer Mischa Fanghaenel portrays over 175 personalities from Berlin's techno scene.
They represent a media extension in Fanghaenel's oeuvre, who, in addition to his work as a photographer, has been working as a bouncer at Berghain for over 10 years.
Amid the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mischa Fanghaenel grappled with the challenging question: How can the essence of the scene's experience be documented when their spaces no longer exist?' In his quest for answers, he developed a digital visual language that allowed him to collaborate withrenowned figures in the music scene, thereby transforming photography into moving images. By releasing the portraits as digital artworks, the artist grants his viewers interactive experiences that, inspired by an ecstatic way of life, form an artistic document of contemporary techno culture. In sync with the music's rhythm, Mischa Fanghaenel's portraits disintegrate into constructivist patterns, morph into figurative forms, ultimately converging into comprehensive and ae-inspiring works of art.
