Versus: The Pharcyde
“Let me clear my throat.
Kick it over here baby pop and let all the fly skimmies feel the beat..
When listening to the famous “Hmm, drop” eternalized by the Beastie Boys, it is practically impossible not to be immediately referred to one of the great classics that defines this genre: “Drop” - The Pharcyde.
To finally be able to make this announcement, it necessarily arouses very good emotions. In this specific case it boils down to “Rir, the short verb to laugh.” Yes, a palindrome.
(If you know, you know.)
Born in South Central Los Angeles, The Pharcyde are, without a doubt, one of the collectives with a more prominent chapter in the summary of current Rap.
The album “Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde” starts a cult discography, followed by “Labcabincalifornia”, an album where everything worked out again, this time with a different duration. Jay Dee or Diamond D are names that dramatically add creativity to any equation and the brilliance is reflected depending on the prisms of observation. Blindfolded, it is impossible to assume favoritism between these two examples. The legacy they built is too consistent for this type of choice.
Better than talking about this chapter, it will be witnessing it live, reported by its authors.
Imani, Slimkid3 and Fatlip will be in Portugal for a live concert on the 25th of March, at the Village Underground, in Lisbon.
“Yeah, uh huh, you know what time? Drop!”
