Tommaso Cappellato is an Italian drummer, producer, and DJ known for his versatile musical style that spans free-form electronics, hip-hop beats, and jazz improvisation. Born and raised in Padova, Italy, in the mid-1970s, he embarked on a musical journey that led him to New York City, where he honed his jazz skills and collaborated with various artists. Throughout his career, Cappellato has explored diverse musical genres and cultures. He has collaborated with Brooklyn MCs in hip-hop projects, traveled to Senegal to engage with local music masters, and worked with experimental electronica and techno artists like Rabih Beaini, Maurice Louca and Donato Dozzy. In 2022, he founded the ensemble Explorare in Los Angeles, aiming to delve into music's rich landscape through improvisational performances. Their self-titled debut album was released in October 2023. Cappellato is also the founder of the record label Domanda Music and leads the jazz-funk trio Collettivo Immaginario. His most recent album, "Anti-Planeting," was released on February 1, 2025. This project features eight tracks that blend live drums and percussion with analog synthesizers, creating a unique sonic experience. Currently based in Los Angeles, Cappellato continues to contribute to the global music scene through his innovative projects and collaborations.
