Young promising guitarist from Switzerland, Louis Matute is recognized for his qualities of perfomer and composer. Released in 2022, "Our Folklore" had already won over audiences ("Évidence" prize from the Académie du Jazz and TSF JAZZ radio awards in France, ZKB Audience Jazz Award in Switzerland). The "Large Ensemble", featuring great musicians from the Swiss scene and close friends like <a href="spotify:artist:1AKiAMwxnF2f1zBlSGDfXC" data-name="Léon Phal">Léon Phal</a>, is back with an even sharper sound, enabling Louis Matute to go even further. Recorded with thirteen musicians, "Small Variations from the Previous Day" takes writing and arranging to a whole new level. It contains ten full, polished compositions, vibrant and poetic, drawing as much on folk and jazz as on Louis Matute&#39;s Honduran roots and his obsession with Brazil. Here, the guitarist adds classical strings, there a flute, trombone, percussion and vocals. All these timbres clarify and enrich the narrative. "Narcissus", "2000 Years" and "Vue Soleil" are among his finest themes to date. "I&#39;ve got a thing about the voice," confided the pupil of <a href="spotify:artist:6q6EXv5ybArXqifMdmTIig" data-name="Lionel Loueke">Lionel Loueke</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:7a7Vs88vzOcmHh4GOpUEJJ" data-name="Wolfgang Muthspiel">Wolfgang Muthspiel</a> the day after a tour with Brazilian popular music icon <a href="spotify:artist:5644bJMU3NkJN0edhyHV3v" data-name="Joyce Moreno">Joyce Moreno</a>. "That&#39;s what makes me cry. The melody is really what&#39;s left. I love singing the tunes I play. I&#39;ve never written a melody without singing it at the same time.
