Élodie Bouny, born in Caracas and raised in Paris, but brazilian by heart, is a guitarist, composer, and educator. As a young kid, she studied classical guitar at the Conservatoire de Boulogne-Billancourt and later with Pablo Márquez in Strasbourg. She also studied South American music in Buenos Aires. As composer she has received commissions from institutions like the Theatro Municipal de São Paulo and the Guitar Foundation of America. Her works are published by Éditions d’Oz and Soldano, beyond others. She has performed internationally as a soloist and chamber musician. Her compositions have been played in major venues such as Salle Pleyel, Philharmonie,(Paris), Sala Cecilia Meireles (Rio), and the Gewandhaus (Leipzig). Her debut CD Terra Adentro was released in 2011. She currently performs in projects like Trio Iroko and recorded an album in duo with Yamandu Costa, Helping hands She also directs the Concurso Novas and teaches on platforms like ZapMusic and Guitar by Masters.
