Goatlord was a short-lived but influential, sludgy, and doomy (i.e., slow) death metal band from Las Vegas, <span class="small-caps">NV</span>, featuring Ace Still (vocals), Joe Frankulin (guitar), Jeff Schwob (bass/vocals), and Jeff Nardone (drums). Formed in 1985, the band recorded several demos (including 1988′s Sodomize the Goat) on their way to 1991′s watershed Reflections of the Solstice, which was actually originally cut with stand-in singer <a data-pandora-id="AR:9108115" data-shareable-url="/artist/mitch-harris/ARm4KbVjKK6Z6jK" href="pandorav4:/backstage/artist?pandoraId=AR:9108115">Mitch Harris</a> of <a data-pandora-id="AR:736394" data-shareable-url="/artist/righteous-pigs/ARwnKnqqzcqmpzP" href="pandorav4:/backstage/artist?pandoraId=AR:736394">Righteous Pigs</a> before Still convinced his bandmates to let him re-record the tracks. Adding to the confusion, the record was reissued only a year later and retitled simply Goatlord, although it hardly mattered since further disagreements within the band had driven them apart for good by then. Amazingly, though, cult legend beckoned, and 2003 saw the release of Goatlord<span class="push-single"></span><span class="pull-single">’</span>s early demos in the shape of Distorted Birth: The Demos, after which the core trio decided to reunite sans their troubled vocalist, and released a pair of new tracks on the second side of a split <span class="small-caps">CD</span> with <a data-pandora-id="AR:305019" data-shareable-url="/artist/nunslaughter/ARx4br9hlq5l9jK" href="pandorav4:/backstage/artist?pandoraId=AR:305019">Nunslaughter</a>. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
