Timmy Regisford, a Trinidadian-born American DJ and producer, began deejaying in his teen years. In 1981, he started music production by collaborating with Boyd Jarvis, which led to remix jobs and a record deal for Jarvis. He hosted the radio show Saturday Night Dance Party on WBLS with Jarvis. In 1988, Regisford worked as an A&R executive and producer for Atlantic Records and MCA Records, producing and remixing tracks for artists such as Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, and Bobby Womack. He later became Vice President of A&R at Motown Records and DreamWorks Records. In 1991, he founded Club Shelter nights in New York City, gaining recognition for long, soulful sets blending Afro-jazz, Latin jazz, house, disco, funk, and R&B. Regisford has continued to work as a DJ, producer, and remixer, collaborating with artists such as Sade, Madonna, and Chaka Khan. He has released several albums and mixtapes, including Battle of the Beats (1985 EP) and 7pm (2019). Regisford is regarded as a pioneer of house music and was inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame.
