Horanauts was born out of Alexis COQUARD's early compositions, which had been left untouched for almost a decade. A few years later, his encounter with Lilian IVARS allowed him to add a unique voice to his first tracks and thus rekindle his interest: Horanauts was officially created. Both fans of the legendary band Muse, Alexis and Lilian spent part of their free time frequenting networks that brought together the biggest French-speaking fans. It was on one of these platforms that they met Paul COLIN (bass) and Bastien FOURNIER (drums), who joined the band in 2021. Now complete, Horanauts released their first EP, Carvery, on 1st July 2021, unveiling Alexis's first compositions. Following this release, the band performed live for the first time in Parisian bars, initially in acoustic format, before embarking on their first concerts as a full band in spring 2022. After these few spring concerts, the band fine-tuned the preparation of their first album. Following years of work, How To Trade Curses was released on 18th November 2022. This first full-length album is halfway between an almost cerebral progressiveness, marked by its deconstructed structures, rhythmic ambushes and sonic surprises, and a violence that is as dark as it is electric, rock and almost metal at times. The album pays tribute to the quartet's inspirations, reminiscent at times of Muse or Nothing But Thieves, at others of Radiohead, in eight tracks that explore very distinct worlds. From the deceptively magical world of Frost to the sinister Bad Aura, to the progressive metal of Contingency, How To Trade Curses demonstrates a wide musical palette capable of detouring into heady riffs and unifying choruses, as on Loopback. It's a real journey that comes to a tragic end with the eponymous title track, an electrifying crescendo lasting over seven minutes that brings the band's first album to a spectacular finish. In 2024, the band released a new EP, Curses Again, revisiting some tracks from their first full-length album in acoustic versions, as well as the previously unreleased track Birds. This EP comes during a hiatus for the band, who are currently working on their second album, some tracks from which have already appeared on the band's latest setlists since 2025.
